This wall had blocks with the Japanese names of the women. If the blocks were turned around, that meant the girl had an STD or was pregnant.

I was hoping that we would be able to speak with one of the grandmothers, but unfortunately, this did not happen. Sadly, the Japanese government still denies this ever happened. The Halmoni, along with many others, have weekly protests at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul.
Crazy I had no idea. I will have to add this to my class discussion on WWII, i start it next week.
