House of Sharing

The House of Sharing is a museum dedicated to the women who were kindnapped and forced to become sexual slaves for the Japanese military during World War 2. It is also a place for the women to live peacefully.
These are the hands of the first Halmoni, or grandmother, who spoke out in 1992.

This wall had blocks with the Japanese names of the women. If the blocks were turned around, that meant the girl had an STD or was pregnant.

These are hand and footprints of some of the Halmoni:

This map shows where all the of the brothels were in Asia.

I was hoping that we would be able to speak with one of the grandmothers, but unfortunately, this did not happen. Sadly, the Japanese government still denies this ever happened. The Halmoni, along with many others, have weekly protests at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul.
